Sickness and Promotions

Angela here!  Chris and I had a great adult-only getaway in Dallas the other weekend.  We caught up with a bunch of high school friends and celebrated a beautiful couple getting married on Valentine's Day!  We only called Hudson a minimum of three times a day and face-timed daily.  We were only slightly pathetic.  But in our defense, Huddy was sick most of the time we were away.  Poor guy has been battling a bad cough that's keeping him up at night and has even resorted to some vomiting episodes.  Not sure how he plans it, but he ONLY vomits on me!  It's a love-hate relationship right now.

The picture below was sent to me while Hudson was staying at LolliPop's house.  Yes, that's a decadent chocolate ice cream dessert.  He would pick off and eat the hard chocolate covering first and then eat the ice cream last.  He's all about priorities these days.

Huddy continues to battle the sickness this week, which he ever-so-kindly passed along to me.  He alternates days of projectile vomiting and being the happiest kid ever.  It's very confusing, but we're grateful for the break in cleanup episodes we have to partake in.  Below is a pic of him on a non-sick day.  He finally decided he wasn't scared of his tool bench goggles anymore.  He would put them on, run around the house and release squeals of joy.
And below is a sick day.  All the cousins have had some bug and it seems as though we are passing it in circles so someone is always sick.  But Hudson and Anderson are soooo cute when they are sick.  And by cute, I mean quiet and cuddly and content watching Disney.  AKA, perfect children.

Hudson was reunited with one of his honorary Aunties last weekend.  My dear friend Lisa made the trek from Chicago to visit us in the mound of ice and snow.  I have seen Lisa a few times since, but she hadn't seen the Hudman over a year!  It was a sweet gathering...

He was so excited to see her that the had to show off his three favorite toys...the broom, the vacuum and the excavator.  Lisa was also introduced to Elmo's World as well as cars and trucks and all things fun when it comes to little boys.  It was a good weekend!

And the latest news in the Kemp household....

Hudson has been promoted to Big Brother!!

We're expecting Baby Number #2, whom Chris has nicknamed Skeeter, mid-August.  I got Huddy a big-bro tee and asked him to show me how excited he was.  He made his mommy proud and ran in circles around the dining room table releasing happy screams.  And he only hit the wall once!  He's a quick learner.

And then he had to do it again in his goggles...but then realized it was hard to run and see straight with the goggles on....

We could not be more excited to add to our clan and give Huddy a permanent playmate/best friend/torture-buddy.  We have a lot to be thankful for.  Hope everyone has a great week!

Birthday Celebrations

Angela here!  Happy Hump Day!  We have spent the last couple days recovering from travel only to head out again tomorrow.  Big wedding in Dallas and an adult-only getaway.  I can't remember what a baby-free moment feels like so we're either going to have the time of our lives...or be calling our child every few moments because we will be missing him so much.  Probably a little of both.  This past weekend we had some good family quality time in Avon Lake (near Cleveland).  There are multiple winter birthdays so we had to celebrate them all!  Chris, Aunt Sam and cousins Hannah and Nate are our snow babies.

Team work on opening presents...

Cousin Nate received a bunch of tools and the boys had a good time "fixing" things.

Below is my well-mannered child just seconds before he clonked Nate on the head with his new birthday present.  Luckily, Nate has a head of steel (and an older sister), so beatings do not phase him.

Cheeeeseee!

Hannah telling her Uncle Chris about the proper techniques of coloring.

After cake and presents, we had to retreat outside for some fresh air and to blow off the sugar-high.  Nate was nice enough to let Huddy borrow his coveralls and boots.  Hudson doesn't have snow boats (#Parentfail), so we had to resort to rain boots.  But Hudson made it very clear he DID NOT like those boots.  So sneakers it was.

Ready to play!!

Our family loves big motorized cars and the kids have learned that they are awesome as well.  Santa brought Hannah and Nate an F-150 this year and Nate had no hesitations about sitting in the truck bed so Huddy could be up front with Hannah.  They drove up and down the street and pummeled through snow...all while selling Girl Scout cookies!  Yes, Hannah (ie. Sam) is a marketing genius.  What adult could say no to a seven year old driving two cute boys in a truck up to their front door with a list of cookies?!  It definitely won me over.  I will be in cookie-heaven all next month.

All that driving and cookie-selling made the boys thirsty.  Love these kiddos!

Hope everyone has a great rest of the week and weekend!

Football Games and Video Injuries

Angela here!  Hudson had another football-focused weekend.  And rightly so, given the fact his daddy is slightly obsessed with the New England Patriots and Tom Brady.  If any guy has a man-crush on Brady, it's definitely Chris.  We started Super Bowl Sunday with a trip to church.  Super Bowl is one the "the events" at Southbrook.  So the Kemps were "that" family...everyone dressed in their Patriots gear and ready for the big game.  Hudson even gave a "fooootball" cheer before we left...

The church was football chaos!  But I'm talking awesome chaos...a live band, concession stands, bounce houses, cheerleaders and even a half time show with an American Idol contestant from this season.  Alexis Gomez, a Dayton native was part of the half time show.  She rocked the stage!  I was impressed and I think I might start watching the show now.

After church and nap, Hudson and I had our typical mommy-and-me bonding time.  We vacuumed!  Hudson loves to help me clean the house.  And by help, I mean ram his vacuum into either my vacuum or furniture or the wall or a pet.  No major injuries yet, just a few dents in the floor boards.

Then came Super Bowl!  Hudson could not have been more excited to yell at the TV like his daddy does.  He even has a victory dance where he spins in circles till he falls and usually hits a wall or a piece of furniture.  But in between the chanting and dancing, he has to stop and sit in his Mickey chair and take sips of milk...

We were able to get one of his victory dances on video.  But I also have many outtakes...he was literally bouncing off the walls and would inevitably hit something.  Sometimes on purpose, sometimes on accident.

Victory Dance

I wasn't going to post this last video but I can't stop laughing at it.  NO BABIES WERE HURT IN THE MAKING!  Please do not call Child Protective Services on me.  He didn't even notice the TV stand, he got right back up and cheered.  One. Tough. Cookie.
