Birthday and Big Boy Bed

Angela here!  Hope everyone had a great weekend.  We finally got a couple days of sunshine here in good ole Ohio!  It has literally been raining 6 out of 7 days since the end of May (and  I'm not exaggerating).  So with any sign of sun, we headed straight to the neighborhood pool last weekend and this weekend.  Connect Four was just as cool as actually swimming.
And with the baby on the way (August 12th!!), we've also spent the last week transitioning Hudson to a big boy bed.  And by big boy, I mean a full-size legit bed.  It makes him look so tiny!  We have been singing praises to the toddler-sleeping gods above, because he has been doing awesome in his new bed!  He only wakes up about 30 minutes earlier than before and puts himself right to sleep after reading books.  And he will play and sing to himself in the morning until we go get him.  He's only gotten out of bed twice, so we're trying to break that habit quick to where he must call for us once he's awake.  Fingers crossed.
How he fell asleep during his first nap in the big boy bed...
And the second nap....we're working on how to stay under the covers.

And then came the official birthday and big T-W-O!  Huddy got a sprinkle donut to start the day off right.  He pretty much made a mess and smeared icing everywhere, but to each their own.  It was cute to watch.

He continued to get presents all week from family and friends; one lucky kid!  Bubbles seem to be a favorite.  He will come home everyday from daycare requesting to play with bubbles.
And his new pj's and slippers.  He loves those slippers so much that he sleeps in them.

To end Hudson's official day of birth, he got another cupcake.  So as good parents, Chris and I allowed him to have a sugar-sprinkle-high before bedtime.

Let's just say he approved of the cupcake.
Hudson had his two year check up at the pediatrician this week as well.  He's one growing boy: 90th percentile height and weight!  On track to be 6'1'' so we'll see if the chart predictions hold any truth.

And two cute videos to end the post.  I got Hudson to start saying "I'm two" while holding up two fingers.  But he can't quite hold up two fingers on one hand.  So he improvised...

"I'm TWO"

And my sweet baby just one short year ago on his first birthday.  Can't believe how fast time flies...

Hope everyone has a fabulous week ahead!  This week's project in the Kemp household is finishing up the nursery and getting ready for our princess to arrive.  August 12th is the big day, unless she decides to grace us early.  My bags are packed just in case!

Holiday and Birthday Celebrations!

Angela here!  Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend.  Hudson got off to a great start at daycare where he came home with a hat and shirt that just screamed Independence Day!  He was very proud of himself and his crafting skills.

On Friday, our jam-packed weekend of family visitors began.   My Uncle Steve, cousin Robert and his girlfriend Christine came to visit for a few hours.  They live in Texas but were in Indiana for soccer games and were nice enough to stop by for a bit.  And then came Hudson's Uncle Brandon (my brother), Aunt Sam and cousins Hannah and Nate to stay for the weekend.
Uncle Steve taught the little ones about the family tradition of airplane...always a favorite.

Below is what happens when you try to get three kiddos to stop playing and look at the camera....one turns into a dog, one gives me a wink/stink-eye and the other gives me a confused, I'm-about-to-poop face.  Definitely a framer.

On Saturday, Springboro was having a Bicentennial Festival to celebrate our 200 years of history.  This festival was surprisingly awesome and had every sort of entertainment for adults and kids.  There were bounce houses, trains, pony rides, petting zoos, obstacle courses, live bands and great food!

Hudson was not a fan of the train ride though.  Which was hilarious because trains are one of his favorite toys to play with.  Maybe it's the size that's scary...

But he loved the obstacle course that Chris took him through.  One tough cookie.

Lunch time = tackle Chris time.

And yes, I know I look like I'm about to pop.  But I still have 5 weeks to go!  So close but yet so far.

The ponies were definitely the best part for Huddy.  He was obsessed and didn't want to leave.  So round and round we went, riding the ponies until they kicked us out.  We even went back on Sunday to let him ride them again.

Saturday afternoon, we had a cookout to celebrate Hudson's upcoming birthday next week, the big T-W-O! My parents came up to visit and the local Springboro crew came as well to celebrate one lucky little boy.

Hudson got a ton of gifts and had to show everyone what he was receiving.  He would run around and place them on people's lap, all while saying "I got it."

After presents and dinner, the kiddos got to play with pop its and sparklers...
 ...and sidewalk chalk...
 ..and the bounce house!
The above picture is cousin Nate getting his bum stuck in the bounce house entry.  Hilarious!  But it happened to all the kids, I just happened to catch Nate in action.

And we ended the evening with a silly string fight.  A good time for both the kids and the adults.

Overall, it was a wonderful weekend.  We are blessed with good family and could not be more thankful for their love and support.  Hudson is definitely living the good life.  But probably only for five more weeks.  His little sister will likely steal the show once she arrives mid-August :)
