Angela here! Hope everyone is having a great week. We've had a few changes in our household the past couple weeks. Miss Adley has advanced her diet; this is her second week on pureed foods! At just past 5 months old, she has already had sweet potatoes, banana, avocado, corn, mango and blueberries. She is following in her brother's footsteps and enjoying the bananas the best. (Hudson had three bananas himself just on Saturday - he can't get enough!). And she's only eating a couple tablespoons at a time, but Adley has already cut out a bottle throughout the day and is going longer stretches between feeds. And her spit up seems to be resolving so that is an extra bonus for me and the laundry. Her sleep routine still varies, so we're hoping she'll start to sleep through the night as she continues to eat more solids.
Notice Hudson in the background eating his veggie dog. He continues to demonstrate to Adley the proper way to eat and hold a spoon, all while coaching her and saying: "Put food in your belly Addie. Food goes down!" And the "proper" way to eat includes an open mouth and food dispersed all over the counter and in every crevasse of his body and clothing. Such a good big bro.
And a video to share...Adley's first experience with food - sweet potatoes. Her facial expressions have since gotten better. And now she likes to hold the spoon instead of knock it out of our hands. This is what I call progress...
Another change, this is Hudson's second week in his new classroom. Early Preschool for my big boy! He now has to eat in the cafeteria with all the school kids and takes a nap later in the day. His class is down the left hall of the school, which Hudson says is where the big kids go to "get their learn on." It's more structured than his previous classroom and he seems to be adjusting well. His favorite part is art time....clearly he is the next Monet...
We also celebrated Chris' birthday this week. He continues to tell everyone he is 24 and "in his prime." I hate to out the birthday boy, but the poor guy falls asleep by 10 pm and gets heartburn after one adult beverage. We are not party animals by any means. But Hudson partied hard for us and decorated a card for his daddy and then distributed presents. We started off with a nice bottle of whiskey and then he modeled Sleep Phones. If anyone likes to go to bed with headphones on, this is the coolest invention yet. Flat earbuds woven into a cotton headband, genius!
Next up was cookie-making time for daddy's birthday. Hudson could not have been more excited. Seeing icing and sprinkles makes the boy go into a whirlwind of emotion and spunk.
And we ended with a sugar-high. Perfect birthday evening. Now we're just trying to keep everyone healthy through the cold and flu season. As Chris says, we're all "on the verge!"
